TradeBeam solution wins Mitsubishi Corporation IT President’s Award

San Mateo, CA, May 28, 2002—Mitsubishi Corporation chose the TradeBeam implementation initiative to receive the top honor of the global IT President’s Award for FY2001.

The biannual award, presented on April 11th in Tokyo, is awarded to teams that have developed a unique business idea that utilizes IT and has significant potential profitability for Mitsubishi Corporation in the future. The winning team within Mitsubishi received commendations from President Sasaki.

Mitsubishi recognized the TradeBeam initiative as a practical application of IT in actual business. “[The TradeBeam initiative] draws together our Chemicals Group know-how, iMIC functions, and software development capacity of venture corporations to bring about structural improvement and reformed business conditions via a high-expansion trade business platform.”

The award citation also pointed to the expected synergies with other company projects such as TEDI (The Trade Electronic Data Interchange), founded with the support of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The system is being designed with the aim of achieving greatly enhanced efficiency and reduced costs in trade practices.
